Mission & Vision
PRF’s vision, “Sustainable Waste Management for a Circular Economy and Social Justice for the Collection Pillars of Recycling,” serves as a beacon for guiding its Mission: Pacific Recycling Foundation as the Agent of Change, through advocacy to sustainable impact (outcome)-focused actions, ‘connecting the dots’, including with partners. PRF is dedicated to transforming attitudes, mindsets, behaviours, and systems, to realise a cleaner, greener future for all in an inclusive society.
PRF-Moving Forward
Given PRF’s successes in advocacy for change in attitude and behaviour towards recycling, and practical actions in engaging with schools, communities, and private sectors, as well as working in partnership with a range of stakeholders, it is in a strong position to become the national voice, and an effective ‘Agent of Change’, for recycling for circular economy and social justice for CPR in Fiji, and contribute to the realisation of Fiji’s SDGs, guided by the Pacific regions Cleaner Pacific 2025: Pacific Regional Waste and Pollution Management Strategy 2016–2025 and the goals of the Blue Pacific. Blue Pacific refers to “a resilient Pacific Region of peace, harmony, security, social inclusion, and prosperity, that ensures all Pacific peoples can lead-free, healthy and productive lives.
By widely sharing its impactful achievements and practical experiences in Fiji, PRF is well placed to also support other Pacific Island countries in their waste management journeys, including recycling and social justice for their CPR. That is, PRF could also become a strong ‘Agent of Change’ for increased recycling and social justice of CPR across the Pacific Island Countries (PICs), which are also struggling with the challenge of solid waste management. The Pacific Island countries have also signed onto several regional policy instruments including Cleaner Pacific 2025: Pacific Regional Waste and Pollution Management Strategy 2016–2025.
