WRFL and PRF Align Internal Vision Ahead of Strategic Vaka Forum Series

WRFL and PRF Align Internal Vision Ahead of Strategic Vaka Forum Series

As Pacific Recycling Foundation prepares to launch its groundbreaking Vaka Forum Series later this year, PRF and Waste Recyclers Fiji Limited (WRFL) have started by looking inward, aligning their internal teams with the vision, messages, and solutions that will soon be shared externally with national partners and later regionally across the Pacific.

Over the last few weeks, WRFL and PRF have brought together all their teams, including Finance and Administration, Corporate Relations, Advocacy Arm, Operations, Transportation, and Workshop, to align around a shared vision. This step-by-step process has ensured that every member of the organisation understands not only the scale of the waste management crisis but also their role in responding to it.

“These sessions are about much more than training,” said PRF Founder and WRFL CEO Amitesh Deo.

“They are about preparing our people to fully understand the extremity of the waste management crisis, embrace the vision we are taking forward, and ensure we are all on the same page before we invite external partners into dialogue through the Vaka Forum Series.”

VAKA stands for Voices, Alliances, Knowledge, and Action – reflecting PRF’s mission to harness diverse voices, build strategic alliances, share knowledge, and drive coordinated action. Delivered as a series across different sectors and industries, the forums will foster inclusive dialogue and co-created solutions to address Fiji’s waste management crisis and advance circular models of development.

Two forums have already been confirmed for November and December 2025 with Tourism stakeholders and Municipal Councils, while a forum with Members of Parliament and Permanent Secretaries is expected early next year. Discussions are also underway for further forums with International Partners, Ambassadors and High Commissioners, Universities, Civil Society Organisations, and Religious Organisations.

“Before we begin that national journey, we are making sure our foundation is strong, starting with the people who deliver recycling services every day,” Deo added.

“This is about building an aligned movement that begins internally, extends outward to national partners, and then connects regionally, in response to the mounting waste management crisis.”

By taking this strategic approach, WRFL and PRF are ensuring that when the Vaka Forum Series begins, it will be anchored by an organisation that is internally aligned, outwardly coordinated, and regionally connected.
