PRF Launches Fourth Annual Christmas Gift & Stationery Drive for the children of CPR

Each Personalised Gift Carries a Heartfelt Message, Ensuring No Child of a Collection Pillar of Recycling Goes Without a Gift – Deo

Pacific Recycling Foundation has launched its Annual Christmas Gift and Stationery Drive, a tradition of compassion and community solidarity dedicated to bringing joy to the children of Fiji’s Collection Pillars of Recycling (CPR).

Now in its fourth consecutive year, the initiative continues to honour the families who form the backbone of Fiji’s recycling movement, women and men who collect recyclables from the dumpsites and public places, often in harsh conditions, to protect our environment and advocate recycling.

“It is not just about giving a gift to a girl or a boy. These are truly personalised gifts,” said Amitesh Deo, Founder of PRF. 

“When we receive a gift, there is a recipient – a child of a CPR waiting for their present somewhere in Fiji. Each gift is carefully labelled and handed over with a heartfelt, personal message. That connection makes this initiative so special,” said Deo.

He added that every child deserves to feel the joy of Christmas, no matter their circumstance.

“When a child goes without a gift simply because their parents are struggling to put food on the table, it is a reflection of how much more we must do as a community.”

For many CPR families, Christmas brings mixed emotions – while others celebrate abundance, these parents often struggle to provide even the smallest token of happiness for their children. The PRF Christmas Drive was established to bridge that gap, ensuring that no child of a CPR family is left behind during the festive season.

Since its inception in 2022, the Drive has reached over 600 children across Fiji, thanks to the generosity of businesses, community members, and partner organisations.

Deo said the experience of distributing the gifts each year is profoundly moving.

“Words cannot describe what you experience when giving out these gifts. When a child is waiting for their Christmas gift to arrive, as a society, we have a responsibility to live up to that expectation. These children wait with so much hope, and it is our collective duty to ensure that hope is not broken.”

PRF invites individuals, families, businesses, and institutions to contribute child-friendly, non-violent, and preferably plastic-free gifts or essential stationery items that will make a lasting difference.

Contributions can be dropped off at Malhana Cloud Kitchen Restaurant on Koronivia Road.

From December 16-19, PRF teams will visit CPR communities around the country to deliver Christmas gifts.

“Through this simple act of kindness, we can transform lives and restore dignity,” Deo added.
