Leadership Through Conversation: PRF Launches ‘We Don’t Want You Here’ Podcast Series
The Pacific Recycling Foundation (PRF) has launched a new limited-edition podcast series, We Don’t Want You Here, bringing together leaders from diverse backgrounds to share conversations that inspire growth mindset, leadership, and stronger communities while exploring the social and environmental issues shaping Fiji.
Known for its work in movement building, recycling advocacy, research, and grassroots engagement, PRF has long created platforms for conversations on environmental and social issues. The launch of this podcast marks a natural evolution of that work, providing a space for deeper, more personal discussions with leaders from across Fiji on the challenges, decisions, and experiences that shape our communities and our future.
Despite its bold title, We Don’t Want You Here is not about rejecting people or differing viewpoints. Instead, it encourages audiences to reflect on the ideas, practices, and challenges that Fiji should seek to overcome. Each episode examines issues through the lens of leadership, asking not who should be excluded, but what mindsets, behaviours, or approaches no longer serve the country’s aspirations for a sustainable and inclusive future.
The series brings together guests from across government, the opposition, academia, Civil Society Organisations, the private sector, tourism, the media, and community organisations. Through open and respectful conversations, guests share their personal leadership journeys, the challenges they have faced, the decisions they have made, and the lessons they have learned while serving their communities and organisations.
Each episode is inspired by one of the leadership principles explored in John C. Maxwell’s The 21 Irrefutable Laws of Leadership. Rather than focusing on the book itself, the principles provide a framework for conversations that explore resilience, integrity, service, and leadership in practice.
PRF Founder Amitesh Deo says environmental challenges cannot be separated from leadership.
“Every significant environmental challenge ultimately comes back to leadership, how we make decisions, how we engage communities, and how we respond to issues that affect both people and the environment. Through this podcast, we hope to create conversations that encourage reflection, learning, and positive action.”
Deo adds that one of the objectives of the series is to demonstrate that leadership is built through experience rather than position.
“Every leader’s journey is different. Success is often shaped by setbacks, difficult conversations, and decisions made during uncertain times. By sharing these experiences, we hope listeners will find lessons they can apply within their own lives, communities, and workplaces.”
The first episode premieres today, 31 July 2026, with new episodes released every Friday as part of the limited-edition series. Each conversation will feature a different guest and explore a unique leadership journey and perspective, encouraging audiences to continue following the series as it unfolds.
Available on PRF’s YouTube and Spotify platforms, the podcast seeks to contribute to broader conversations around leadership, environmental conservation, and community responsibility while providing a space for respectful dialogue across different sectors of society.
As the series progresses, PRF hopes the conversations will inspire audiences to think critically about the leadership needed to address today’s challenges and to help shape a sustainable, inclusive, and resilient future for Fiji.
