Join hands in spreading the joy of the festive season to the children of families involved in waste-picking – PRF Founder

The Pacific Recycling Foundation extends a heartfelt invitation to individuals and organisations to join hands for the PRF’s Annual Christmas Gift and Stationery Drive aimed at brightening the lives of children of over 1,000 Collection Pillars of Recycling who mostly come from marginalised waste-picking communities around the country.

The Founder of the PRF, Mr. Amitesh Deo said these families, often residing in poverty-stricken and vulnerable communities, face substantial challenges and lack access to basic services.

These families are involved in informal waste picking, enduring immense struggles, and societal stigma while contributing significantly to keeping our environment clean and sustainable.

He said this initiative stands as a testament to gratitude and appreciation for these resilient communities.

“It is a heartfelt effort to ensure that the children, who might otherwise go without any gifts, experience the joy of the holiday season and are also able to prepare for the next school year,” said Mr. Deo.

The PRF Founder emphasised the significance of this initiative, stating, “The PRF’s Christmas Gift and Stationery Drive is more than just presents; it’s a symbol of acknowledgment and appreciation for the invaluable contributions made by Collection Pillars of Recycling. It’s a chance for us to show solidarity and bring smiles to the faces of these deserving children.”

Individuals and organisations interested in contributing to this noble cause can register with the PRF (admin2@wasterecyclers.com.fj) for the Christmas Gift and Stationery Drive. Gifts can be dropped off at Malhana Cloud Kitchen Restaurant, located on Koronivia Road, by December 8th.

In support of the Gift and Stationery Drive, people are urged to bring educational toys and stationery, contributing positively to the children’s development. PRF requests refraining from gifting toys that encourage violence.
