Long-term partnerships critically vital for the sustainability of PRF’s concepts – Deo

Long-term partnerships and strategic alliances remain the cornerstone for the sustainability of Pacific Recycling Foundation’s concepts in the waste management and recycling space, according to PRF Founder and CEO of Waste Recyclers Fiji Limited, Mr. Amitesh Deo.

He stated this as one of the major petroleum companies, Pacific Energy has recommitted its partnership for the Global Recycling Day celebrations, to be held on the 17th and 18th of March, 2023 at the Sheraton Fiji Golf & Beach Resort.

GRD celebrations, a day dedicated to celebrate and mark recycling and also acknowledge the contributions of those involved in this space is an initiative of Pacific Recycling Foundation and Waste Recyclers Fiji Limited in partnership with Tourism Fiji, Swire Shipping, Pacific Energy and Fiji National University.

“Principles such as accountability, transparency, shared vision, and proper and open consultative process guide our GRD partnership as we continue to work with current partners and welcome new alliances,” said Mr. Deo.

Mr. Deo said Pacific Energy remains a committed partner of PRF and its core work, and their continued partnership towards GRD since 2019 is an expression of solidarity towards recycling, proper waste management, and those involved in this space.

“The fact that Pacific Energy partnered with PRF and WRFL since 2019 GRD when many did not even want to hear or talk about recycling and the lives attached to this industry, is a testament to the company’s commitment towards movement building,” said Mr. Deo.

Mr. Deo reiterated that it is through long-term partnerships such as this that PRF will be able to fulfill its vision of creating awareness on the importance of recycling and empowering Collection Pillars of Recycling (CPRs) and eventually move them to the formal sector through Green Jobs.

Mr. Deo added they will be launching two major national campaigns attached to Global Recycling Day soon.

Mr. Xavier Baronnet, CEO of Pacific Energy South West Pacific, stated that Pacific Energy is dedicated to environmental sustainability, making Pacific Energy a sustainable brand.

Mr. Baronnet highlighted the significance of the collaboration and stated that as a responsible corporate organisation, it is important to ensure that they play an integral part in ensuring that the space they live in is sustainable.

“This collaboration will support both Pacific Recycling Foundation and Pacific Energy in implementing and facilitating initiatives as well as ensuring the organisations’ scalability. The partnership and ongoing support will also enable PRF to offer the envisaged sustainable programs to the community,” said Mr. Baronnet.

Mr. Baronnet added that they look forward to a continued partnership in future.

Over 200 people are expected to be present at this year’s GRD celebrations in Denarau. The Prime Minister, Hon. Sitiveni Rabuka will officiate at the event.
