PRF Expands Recycling Services into Ba Through Partnership with RC Manubhai

The Pacific Recycling Foundation (PRF) and its entrepreneurial arm, Waste Recyclers Fiji Limited (WRFL), have officially expanded their recycling services into the Ba area through a strategic partnership with RC Manubhai, marking an important step towards strengthening recycling accessibility in Fiji’s Western Division.

Through this partnership, RC Manubhai has provided space within its yard to support the establishment of a recycling collection and operational facility, enabling PRF and WRFL to extend their recycling network into Ba and surrounding communities.

The initiative is expected to positively impact rural and farming communities in and around Ba by creating greater access to recycling solutions and diverting recyclable waste away from the Ba dumpsite and surrounding environment.

PRF Founder, Amitesh Deo, said the partnership demonstrates the important role that private sector collaboration can play in supporting practical environmental solutions and community impact initiatives.

“Meaningful environmental action cannot happen in isolation. Partnerships like this demonstrate what is possible when organisations come together with a shared commitment towards creating positive environmental and social impact. We are grateful to RC Manubhai for believing in this work and for supporting the expansion of recycling services into Ba,” said Deo.

He added that expanding services into communities outside major urban centres remains an important part of PRF’s broader vision to ensure that recycling opportunities are accessible to all Fijians.

RC Manubhai CEO, Dr. Uppiliappan Gopalan, said the organisation is proud to support initiatives that contribute towards environmental sustainability and stronger community outcomes.

“At RC Manubhai, we believe that partnerships and collective responsibility are essential in creating lasting change. Supporting this initiative aligns with our commitment towards contributing positively to the communities we operate in and encouraging more sustainable practices for the future.

The new facility will support the collection and movement of recyclable materials into Fiji’s recycling ecosystem while also encouraging greater awareness and participation in responsible waste management practices throughout the Western Division.

This partnership reflects the growing importance of collaboration between grassroots organisations and the private sector in advancing sustainability efforts and strengthening circular economy solutions in Fiji.
