Waste Recyclers Fiji Limited Announces Progression of Vinil Prasad to Manager Operations and Strategic Growth

Waste Recyclers Fiji Limited is pleased to announce the progression of Vinil Prasad to the role of Manager Operations and Strategic Growth, marking a significant milestone in the organisation’s continued evolution and long-term vision for sustainable recycling in Fiji and the region.

This announcement comes as WRFL is presenting at the Impact Investment Summit Asia Pacific 2026 in Sydney, engaging directly with key partners, investors, and stakeholders to highlight its innovative approach to recycling and sustainable waste management solutions.

This progression follows over a year of structured training, internal capacity building, and hands-on operational exposure, reflecting WRFL’s commitment to nurturing local talent, strengthening its leadership from within, and empowering young professionals in the waste management sector.

Prasad began his journey in 2022 as a Research Officer, while completing his Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical) with Honours from Fiji National University. He then progressed to Assistant Project Manager and underwent intensive training in operations management, equipping him with the technical and strategic expertise required to take on this critical leadership role.

In his new role, Prasad will lead WRFL’s operational direction while driving strategic growth. His leadership comes at a critical time as WRFL, with over 30 years of experience in mainstream recycling, strengthens its focus on scaling practical, holistic, and experience-driven solutions to end Fiji’s growing waste management crisis.

He will also play a key role in supporting the feasibility study of a regional recycling hub, led by Pacific Recycling Foundation in collaboration with the University of New South Wales. This initiative aims to position Fiji as a model country for recycling and potentially a central hub for the region.

WRFL Managing Director, Joseph Inoke, said the progression reflects both organisational readiness and a deliberate investment in people.

“Prasad’s progression has been the result of careful planning, continuous training, and a strong internal commitment to building capacity within our team. As WRFL evolves, it is critical that our leadership reflects both technical capability and a deep understanding of the realities of the recycling sector,” said Inoke.

“With over three decades of experience, WRFL is now focused on strengthening partnerships and delivering practical solutions grounded in lived experiences. Prasad’s leadership will be key as we enhance our operational systems, develop a robust facility, and improve fleet efficiency to meet growing demands.”

Inoke added that WRFL is positioning itself to not only strengthen recycling systems in Fiji but also contribute meaningfully to regional solutions.

Prasad expressed his gratitude for the opportunity and reaffirmed his commitment to advancing WRFL’s mission.

“It is an honour to take on this role at such an important time for WRFL. Having started as a Research Officer, I have witnessed the organisation’s growth and impact firsthand. The training and mentorship I have received over the past few years have prepared me to contribute more strategically,” he said.

“I look forward to strengthening our operations, working closely with partners, and helping deliver practical recycling solutions that not only address waste challenges but also create long-term environmental, social and economic benefits.”

This announcement underscores WRFL’s commitment to nurturing local talent, empowering emerging leaders, and building a resilient, innovative, and locally driven recycling system for Fiji and the region.
